does anybody else have sciatica? i’ve been having a bunch of pain in my lower back and numbness in my hips and down my legs since the end of october. it’s typical sciatica symptoms and i’m trying to treat it with anything but medicine. I had sciatica back in 2008 and it only lasted a few weeks and went away on its own, but it just wont go away this time. I just started getting acupuncture for it yesterday— and today it is realllly bothering me. If anyone else has sciatica or has any advice, i’d really appreciate it :)
i’ve never really made new year resolutions, but i decided it might be nice to start making some this year, so here are some of the things that i’m going to try to bring into my life in 2013:
i downloaded deepak chopra’s 21 day meditation challenge. i’ve been lighting candles, listening to the guided meditations, and then writing in my gratitude journal everyday so far (2 days! wooo), and i really love this new ritual. hopefully i wont get lazy and stop doing it because i really do feel amazing after doing it.

helppppp. i’ve realized the past few weeks I haven’t been eating as much of a high raw diet as I do in the warmer months. when its cold, all i want to do is eat steamed vegetables, soup, and warm foods. any raw vegans have tips for staying warm and eating raw in the winter?
just watched this documentary. it was okay… talks about all the stuff that every other documentary talks about in terms of nutrition and healthy eating and how AWFUL the standard american diet is…
it was very interesting and informative— dont get me wrong— but i probably didnt like it as much as other documentaries on health and food because it says eating wild salmon and local, hormone free milk is good for you, and i just cant agree with that. how is eating a dead animal that suffered no matter if it was wild caught or factory farmed good for you? and how is drinking a baby cows food healthy for a human? i just cant understand that….
but on a positive note, it talks about eating organic and juicing, which i liked ;) but seriously, overall it was pretty interesting/ a good documentary to watch
i got a special “30 days for 30 dollars” so i’ll definitely go again… but i can’t say that the practice really felt like yoga. I would describe it more as yoga inspired exercise. i take heated vinyasa classes multiple times a week, so the heat didn’t bother me, but you really sweat A LOT! i go to yoga for so much more than the actual physical asana and exercise, but bikram was fun just to sweat a lot.
